Professional golf league AM Green IGPL announced the substantial cash incentive on Saturday in recognition of Urs's unprecedented achievement at the Asiad 2026. The golfer carded a 15-under 265 at the Kasugai Country Club East Course to secure the individual title, marking a significant milestone for Indian women's golf on the continental stage.
Urss gold medal ended a 24-year drought for India in individual golf at the Asian Games, with the last such victory coming when Shiv Kapur won the men's title in 2002. The 23-year-old's performance has reignited interest in the sport within the country and set a new benchmark for female golfers.
The league has also extended its support to the broader Indian contingent by committing Rs 25 lakh individually to each member of the women's team that secured silver in the team event. The squad comprised Urs, Aditi Ashok, and Diksha Dagar, with the collective award underscoring the importance of team success alongside individual achievement.
The recognition from AM Green IGPL reflects growing investment in professional golf within India and the commercial backing available for athletes competing at the highest levels of international sport.
