IIFL Finance and CSB Bank on Tuesday moved to quash speculation about potential stake sales to Canadian investment firm Fairfax India Holdings, with both entities issuing separate denials regarding the reported negotiations.
IIFL Finance stated it had not engaged in any discussions pertaining to a stake sale involving Fairfax, according to an official statement. The non-banking finance company refuted claims that such talks were underway, describing them as baseless.
CSB Bank similarly rejected the report, asserting that it was unaware of any developments outlined in the news coverage. The private sector lender emphasized that no such transactions or preliminary discussions were occurring at its end.
The denials come amid ongoing speculation in financial markets regarding strategic investments and consolidation activities in India's financial services sector. Both institutions' swift rebuttals appear aimed at preventing market confusion and protecting investor sentiment.
