Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has launched its first academic programme at its Sonipat campus, marking a significant expansion of the institute's footprint in Haryana. The Postgraduate Diploma in Solar Systems and Management is designed to address India's growing demand for skilled professionals in renewable energy and solar technology sectors.

The one-year postgraduate programme combines theoretical foundations with practical applications in solar energy systems. Students enrolled in the diploma will gain comprehensive knowledge of solar technology, project management, and sustainable energy practices relevant to India's renewable energy ambitions.

A key differentiator of the programme is its international component, which provides selected students with internship opportunities at European institutions. This exposure aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and enable participants to gain international best practices in solar systems development and implementation.

The launch represents IIT Delhi's commitment to strengthening technical education beyond its Delhi campus while contributing to India's clean energy transition goals. The Sonipat facility positions the institute to serve the National Capital Region and surrounding areas with specialized postgraduate offerings in emerging technologies.

The initiative aligns with India's broader objectives to develop renewable energy infrastructure and create a skilled workforce capable of managing large-scale solar projects across the country.
