IIT Kanpur launches ambitious ₹5,000 crore fundraising drive

IIT Kanpur unveiled its comprehensive fundraising campaign on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the institute's efforts to secure resources for institutional development. Dubbed 'Greater Than Us,' the campaign has already attracted commitments totalling ₹4,155 crore towards an overall target of ₹5,000 crore by 2029.

The fundraising drive represents the most ambitious capital mobilization effort undertaken by any Indian Institute of Technology to date. The scale of the campaign underscores the institute's strategic priorities and its commitment to enhancing academic infrastructure and research capabilities.

With over 83 per cent of the target amount already committed, IIT Kanpur is on track to achieve its fundraising objectives well before the 2029 deadline. The campaign reflects growing industry and alumni support for India's premier engineering institutions as they seek to strengthen their global competitiveness.

The funds are expected to support infrastructure development, research initiatives, and various academic programmes at the Kanpur campus. The successful mobilization of such substantial resources demonstrates the confidence stakeholders place in the institute's vision and leadership.
