Illegal urea mill busted in Uttar Pradesh for poultry feed adulteration

An illegal urea processing unit has been uncovered operating clandestinely among farmland in Hafizpur, Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh. The facility was engaged in grinding government urea and mixing it with poultry feed, a practice that poses serious health and safety risks to livestock and consumers.

During a search and seizure operation, authorities recovered 184 bags of government-subsidised urea that had been diverted for illegal processing. The operation represents a significant breach of fertiliser regulations and consumer protection standards, as the adulteration of animal feed with industrial chemicals like urea is prohibited.

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the illicit operation. Investigations are ongoing to determine the scale of the adulteration scheme and the quantity of contaminated feed that may have entered the market. The case highlights enforcement challenges in preventing agricultural input diversion and the misuse of subsidised materials.

Authorities have warned farmers and feed manufacturers against purchasing or using any feed products from unregistered or illegal sources. The seizure underscores ongoing regulatory efforts to safeguard agricultural supply chains and consumer safety across the region.
