Ilocos farmers receive share of P187-M crop insurance payout

San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur — Farmers in the Ilocos Region are among nearly 25,000 beneficiaries receiving P187 million in insurance payments from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. (PCIC) for agricultural losses sustained during recent weather emergencies.
The insurance payouts cover damage caused by three typhoons and the enhanced southwest monsoon that struck the region starting in August. The PCIC has allocated the funds to compensate farmers for crop losses and related agricultural hardship incurred during the disaster period.
The insurance program provides critical financial protection for farmers vulnerable to seasonal weather hazards. The disbursement represents a significant relief for agricultural communities in Ilocos Sur and neighboring provinces that sustained substantial crop damage during the monsoon season.
