Ilocos Norte declared holiday for Marcos Sr.'s 109th birth anniversary

MANILA — The provincial government of Ilocos Norte will observe a special non-working holiday on Friday, September 11, in commemoration of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.'s 109th birth anniversary, according to an official proclamation signed this week.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamation No. 1421 on September 8, acting on the directive of President Marcos Jr. The holiday declaration applies exclusively to Ilocos Norte, the northern Luzon province where the late former president was born.
Former President Marcos Sr. served as the country's chief executive from 1965 to 1986 and played a significant role in Philippine political history. The annual observance of his birth date in his home province has been a long-standing tradition.
The special non-working holiday allows provincial residents and employees of government agencies in Ilocos Norte to mark the occasion. Private sector employees may also be entitled to holiday benefits depending on their respective company policies and employment agreements.
