Ilocos Norte has documented 2,501 dengue cases and three deaths from January through early October 2026, according to data released Friday by the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit. The figures underline the scale of the dengue outbreak affecting the province as cases continue to mount heading into the final quarter of the year.
During the most recent reporting period of Morbidity Week 40, which ran from October 4 to 10, health authorities recorded 107 new dengue infections. The weekly case count reflects the ongoing transmission of the mosquito-borne virus across Ilocos Norte communities.
Provincial health officials have not yet announced specific measures to combat the outbreak, though dengue prevention campaigns typically emphasize eliminating breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes and encouraging residents to seek prompt medical attention for symptoms. The province has been working to address the surge in cases as temperatures and seasonal conditions continue to favor mosquito proliferation.
Healthcare workers across the province have been placed on alert to manage the influx of dengue patients and monitor for severe cases that could prove fatal. Residents are advised to watch for early symptoms including fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, and rash.
