Data from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) shows that 115 dengue cases were reported during Morbidity Week 37, corresponding to mid-September. This latest surge brings the province's cumulative case count to 2,013 since the start of the calendar year, reflecting a sustained public health challenge in the region.
The outbreak has already claimed lives, with the PESU documenting two dengue-related deaths thus far in 2024. The fatalities were recorded in separate municipalities within the province, highlighting the severity of the disease in certain areas.
Health authorities typically intensify vector control measures and public awareness campaigns during periods of elevated dengue transmission. The continued rise in cases underscores the importance of sustained mosquito control efforts and community vigilance in preventing further spread of the virus.
