Ilocos Norte reports 65 dengue cases in latest weekly update

The Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) reported the new cases during morbidity week 42, which ran from October 11 to 17. The figures underscore the ongoing dengue threat in the northern Luzon region as the year enters its final months.

According to the latest epidemiological data, Ilocos Norte has now recorded a cumulative total of 2,777 dengue cases from January through October, with four deaths attributed to the mosquito-borne illness. The weekly case count of 65 represents a continued pattern of transmission across the province.

Health authorities in Ilocos Norte have been monitoring dengue activity closely as the disease remains a significant public health concern. The PESU tracks weekly morbidity data to identify trends and guide disease prevention and control efforts throughout the region.

Dengue cases typically surge during the rainy season when conditions favor the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, the primary vectors of the virus. Public health officials continue to urge residents to eliminate standing water, use insect repellent, and seek immediate medical care if symptoms such as fever, headache, and body aches develop.
