Iloilo City opens unique library inside public market

The "Library sa Merkado" opened Friday in the dry goods section on the second floor of the Iloilo Central Market, marking a novel approach to public library services in the city. The facility will initially operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing books and reading materials to market-goers between shopping activities.
By situating the library within one of the city's busiest commercial hubs, local officials hope to increase foot traffic and broaden access to educational resources among vendors, shoppers, and other market users who may have limited access to traditional library locations.
