MANILA—Rep. James "Jojo" Ang Jr. of Uswag Ilonggo pleaded not guilty Tuesday before the Sandiganbayan Second Division in one of his graft cases. The congressman personally attended his arraignment and pretrial proceedings to enter his plea.

Ang faces accusations of violating Section 3(h) of Republic Act No. 3019, commonly known as the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The legal provision cited in the charges prohibits public officials from engaging in corrupt practices related to their government positions.

The arraignment before the anti-graft court marks a significant step in the legal proceedings against the Iloilo-based legislator. The case will proceed to trial as the court processes the not guilty plea entered by Ang.
