ILOILO CITY — Law enforcement officers arrested a barangay official and a teenage suspect during a controlled drug transaction in Iloilo City on Tuesday, marking a significant operation against narcotics distribution in the region.
The Iloilo City Drug Enforcement Unit and Station 4 of the Iloilo City Police Station conducted the buy-bust operation that netted approximately 90 grams of suspected methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of 612,000 pesos. The barangay official was identified as a high-value individual involved in the local drug trade.
The 16-year-old minor was also taken into custody during the operation. Both suspects are now facing appropriate drug-related charges as authorities continue their investigation into the extent of their involvement in narcotics trafficking.
The operation underscores ongoing police efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks across Iloilo City and prevent illicit substances from reaching communities.
