IMD Issues Alert for Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Across India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert forecasting heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity across several regions of India in the coming days. The adverse weather is being triggered by a combination of cyclonic circulation and an active western disturbance moving across the country, meteorological officials said.

The dual weather systems are expected to bring widespread precipitation and gusty winds to multiple states, with some areas potentially experiencing severe thunderstorms. The IMD has advised residents and authorities in affected regions to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against potential flooding and lightning strikes.

State disaster management agencies have been put on alert to monitor weather developments and coordinate relief measures if required. Residents in coastal and low-lying areas have been particularly cautioned, as these zones are typically more vulnerable to heavy downpours and associated risks.

The meteorological department is continuously monitoring the movement and intensity of these weather systems and is expected to issue updated forecasts as conditions evolve. Authorities have advised the public to stay informed through official weather bulletins and to exercise caution during outdoor activities until the weather stabilises.
