IMFA becomes India's largest ferro chrome producer with Kalinganagar expansion

IMFA's latest expansion at Kalinganagar takes the company's total ferro chrome production capacity to 534,000 tonnes per annum, establishing it as India's leading producer of the specialty alloy. The new facility represents a significant investment in scaling up domestic output of ferro chrome, a key material used in stainless steel manufacturing and other industrial applications.

With the Kalinganagar plant now operational, IMFA is positioned to ramp up actual production toward 500,000 tonnes annually by financial year 2028. The expansion reflects growing demand from India's stainless steel and specialty steel sectors, which have been pushing for increased domestic ferro chrome supply to reduce import dependency.

The ₹800-crore investment in the facility underscores IMFA's strategy to strengthen its market position in the face of rising global competition and supply chain volatility. Enhanced domestic capacity is expected to support India's broader goals of boosting mineral-based industrialization, particularly in resource-rich states like Odisha.
