Lim Lip Eng said that allegations involving wrongdoing related to special passes issued by the KL immigration office warrant a comprehensive inquiry by senior officials at immigration headquarters. The Kepong MP emphasised the importance of escalating the matter to appropriate law enforcement agencies to ensure thorough and impartial investigation.
The call comes amid growing concerns over the handling of special pass issuance procedures within the department. Lim stressed that allegations of this nature require oversight from higher authorities to maintain public confidence in the immigration system and ensure accountability.
The MP's statement underscores the need for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and police to examine the allegations thoroughly. Such referrals are typically made when matters involve potential breaches of conduct or corrupt practices within government departments.
Special passes issued by immigration authorities have previously been subject to scrutiny regarding their usage and distribution criteria. Lim's call reflects broader concerns about ensuring transparency and proper governance in the administration of immigration-related matters.
