KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — The Putrajaya Immigration Department (JIM) conducted a raid at a construction site in Sepang on Tuesday, resulting in the detention of 173 foreign nationals suspected of immigration offences.
The enforcement operation targeted undocumented workers and those allegedly operating without valid work permits or visas. Immigration officials conducted systematic checks across the construction site, identifying individuals whose documentation did not meet legal requirements.
All 173 detainees have been taken into custody for further processing and investigation. The individuals will be assessed for potential deportation or other administrative action in accordance with Malaysia's immigration laws.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by JIM to combat illegal employment and irregular migration in the country. Construction sites across the Klang Valley region have been flagged as areas requiring heightened immigration enforcement due to reported concentrations of undocumented workers in the sector.
