The fatal collision occurred when the immigration department truck disregarded a red traffic signal and struck a private vehicle at an intersection in the Malaysian capital. The impact caused the truck to careen towards a nearby family crossing the street.
Three members of the family—a father and his two daughters—were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth family member, identified as the mother, sustained injuries in the accident and was transported to hospital for treatment.
Police and traffic authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The truck driver remained at the scene following the collision. Preliminary findings indicate that the immigration vehicle's failure to comply with traffic signals was a contributing factor to the crash.
The incident has renewed focus on road safety compliance among government vehicles operating in urban areas. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the deceased or provided further details regarding the injured family member's condition.
