Imprisoned ex-Negeri Sembilan leader Isa Samad to have heart surgery

KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, the former menteri besar of Negeri Sembilan, is scheduled to receive heart treatment at Serdang Hospital while continuing to serve his prison sentence.
The 73-year-old ex-state leader has been incarcerated following his conviction on corruption-related charges. Medical authorities have determined that he requires cardiac intervention, prompting arrangements for the procedure to be conducted at the federal health facility.
The decision to allow the medical treatment reflects protocols governing healthcare provision for individuals in custody. Serdang Hospital, located in the Klang Valley, is one of the country's leading cardiac care centres and will oversee the procedure.
Isa Samad, who previously served as Negeri Sembilan's chief executive, has been a significant political figure in the state. His legal troubles have marked a notable fall from prominence in Malaysia's political landscape over recent years.
