LAHORE — The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a contempt of court petition on Saturday after authorities transferred the imprisoned former prime minister to a state-run medical facility, circumventing a directive from Pakistan's apex court, party officials said.
The government's decision to move Khan, a former international cricketer, to a public hospital rather than the private facility mandated by the top court has triggered the legal challenge. Khan, who served as prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has been detained since August 2023 and faces multiple legal cases.
