India advances to mixed 4x400m relay final at Asiad 2026

India's mixed 4x400m relay team comprising TS Manu, MR Povamma, Jay Kumar, and Kiran advanced to the final of the Asian Games with a strong performance in the heats. The Indian quartet finished second in Heat 2 with a time of 3:16.23, missing out on heat victory to China but securing qualification for the eight-team final scheduled for later in the evening.

The Indian team's effort ranked fourth overall across both heats, behind Bahrain (3:15.73), China (3:15.97), and Vietnam (3:16.08). India demonstrated competitive form throughout the race, leading at the second and third legs before anchor runner Kiran was edged out by China in the closing stages. The UAE secured third place in Heat 2 with 3:17.00, while South Korea also progressed with a time of 3:18.66.

From Heat 1, Bahrain, Vietnam, hosts Japan (3:16.52), and Philippines (3:19.68) advanced to join India and the other Heat 2 qualifiers in the final round of competition.
