India airlifts Bailey bridge components to aid flood-stricken Nepal
India has dispatched its first consignment of Bailey bridge components to Nepal as part of a broader relief effort following devastating floods. The assistance includes over 130 tonnes of relief materials and deployment of 54 specialist personnel to support rescue and recovery operations.

New Delhi has mobilized significant resources to assist Nepal in the aftermath of recent flooding, with the Ministry of External Affairs coordinating the relief operation. The initial shipment comprises Bailey bridge components, critical infrastructure materials needed to restore connectivity in flood-affected regions where conventional bridges may have been damaged or washed away.
The deployment reflects India's established role as a humanitarian partner in the region, leveraging its technical expertise and logistical capabilities. Beyond the bridge components, India has already sent more than 130 tonnes of relief material tailored to address immediate needs in flood-affected areas.
Accompanying the material aid are 54 expert personnel specializing in rescue operations, relief coordination, and forensic investigations. These specialists will work in close coordination with Nepalese authorities to support ongoing search and rescue efforts, establish relief distribution networks, and assist in documenting casualties and missing persons.
The Bailey bridge components are particularly valuable given their modular design and rapid deployment capability, allowing swift restoration of critical transportation links essential for relief distribution and recovery operations.
