India approves ₹7,000 crore LPG pipeline expansion across six states

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has given the go-ahead for a major expansion of India's LPG pipeline infrastructure, with an investment of approximately ₹7,000 crore earmarked for the initiative. The new pipeline network will stretch across six states—Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka and Goa—substantially strengthening the nation's common carrier LPG transportation system.
The approved projects are expected to expand the existing common carrier LPG pipeline network by nearly 23.5 per cent, representing a significant step in bolstering the country's liquefied petroleum gas distribution capacity. This expansion aims to enhance accessibility to LPG across both urban and semi-urban regions, supporting the government's broader energy security objectives.
The infrastructure development comes as India continues to focus on diversifying its energy sources and improving supply chain resilience for essential commodities. The addition of these new pipelines is expected to reduce logistics costs, improve efficiency in LPG distribution, and support the growing demand across industrial, commercial and domestic sectors in the covered regions.
