India approves ₹7,000 crore LPG pipeline expansion project

India's energy regulator has greenlit a significant expansion of the nation's liquefied petroleum gas infrastructure, clearing the way for approximately 1,800 kilometres of new pipeline construction at a capital investment of ₹7,000 crore. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board's authorisation marks a substantial push to strengthen domestic LPG distribution networks.
The approved pipeline projects will add meaningfully to India's existing LPG transportation capacity. Cumulatively, these new pipelines are projected to increase the country's overall LPG pipeline network by roughly 24 per cent, expanding accessibility and supply efficiency across multiple regions.
The infrastructure investment reflects India's continued focus on enhancing energy security and distribution capabilities. LPG pipelines serve as critical infrastructure for transporting cooking fuel and industrial feedstock, supporting both household consumption and manufacturing sectors dependent on the commodity.
