The foundation stone for a 51-unit housing development at Alagolla Estate in Badulla district was laid on September 29, marking the commencement of construction on the India-backed residential project. The ceremonial event was inaugurated by Ms. Saranya V. S., Assistant High Commissioner of India in Kandy, alongside Sri Lanka's Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure K.V. Samantha Vidyaratna and Deputy Minister Pradeep Sundaralingam.
The housing initiative represents a collaborative effort between Indian and Sri Lankan authorities to develop community infrastructure in the central highlands region. The project is expected to provide residential accommodation for residents of the Alagolla Estate area, addressing housing needs in the plantation district.
