The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has claimed that a large-scale political rally held by the INDIA bloc coalition at Delhi's Ramlila Grounds on November 1 resulted in substantial economic losses across the capital's commercial sector.
According to CTI estimates, approximately 2.5 lakh shops remained shuttered on the day of the event, disrupting normal business operations. The figures account for losses incurred across multiple economic verticals, including wholesale trade, retail commerce, transportation, hotel operations, restaurants and the tourism industry.
The trade organization raised questions about the economic toll of the gathering, pointing to the scale of commercial activity that came to a standstill. No immediate response from rally organizers regarding the claimed financial impact has been made public.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions between political activity and commercial interests in India's capital, where large-scale public gatherings frequently disrupt business operations and daily commerce in affected areas.
