INDIA bloc to launch mock impeachment against election chief

The INDIA bloc opposition alliance plans to initiate a mock impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as part of efforts to mount pressure on the constitutional functionary, sources said. The motion, to be introduced in Parliament on Friday, marks a significant political move by the combined opposition grouping. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has been called upon to chair the proceedings, resuming her role in parliamentary functions after a considerable hiatus. The impeachment motion, while symbolic in nature given the opposition's parliamentary strength, represents an escalation in the bloc's confrontation with the election commission.
