INDIA bloc to stage Delhi protest, seeks CJI intervention on electoral concerns

The INDIA bloc has called for a large-scale demonstration in the national capital on Monday to voice concerns over what opposition parties describe as electoral malpractices, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi urging supporters to take to the streets in significant numbers.

"The Congress and the entire INDIA bloc, along with the country's youth, will again march in massive numbers," Gandhi said, asserting that the movement would amplify concerns across the nation. The protest primarily targets Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh over allegations related to vote counting irregularities.

Beyond street-level mobilization, a delegation of senior INDIA bloc leaders will submit a formal memorandum to Chief Justice of India, demanding judicial intervention in the matter. "When the Constitution is being torn to shreds on Delhi's streets and democracy is being crushed, the guardians of the law cannot remain indifferent," Gandhi stated, calling for accountability from institutional authorities.

Congress general secretary K C Venugopal appealed to all Indians concerned about democratic values to support the initiative. The demonstration reflects escalating tensions between the opposition coalition and the Election Commission over electoral procedures and transparency, with the INDIA bloc seeking both public pressure and institutional intervention to address their grievances.
