India bolsters LAC defences with drone units, advanced weaponry

India is accelerating military modernization efforts along the contested Line of Actual Control, deploying cutting-edge surveillance and weapons systems to strengthen its defensive posture against Chinese forces.

According to security assessments, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has established drone platoons equipped with surveillance capabilities, while special commando units have been positioned at strategic locations. Underground bunker networks are being constructed to provide reinforced positions for troops deployed in the challenging high-altitude terrain.

The Indian military has simultaneously inducted advanced weaponry including S-400 air defence systems, Brahmos cruise missiles, and Nagastra-2 systems along the frontier. These deployments are designed to counter what officials describe as increasingly sophisticated Chinese military capabilities in the region.

India's current troop deployment is reportedly well-positioned to meet the estimated 40,000 to 50,000 Chinese military personnel stationed across the border. Security analysts note that countering Beijing's capabilities through conventional military methods alone presents significant challenges, necessitating India's pivot toward technological modernization and enhanced surveillance infrastructure along the LAC.
