India braces for heavy rains across multiple states as weather systems intensify

Rainfall activity is expected to persist across numerous Indian states through the opening days of October, with the meteorological office warning of variable weather conditions depending on regional location. The forecast indicates a combination of western disturbances and a low-pressure system will influence precipitation patterns across the country over the coming week.

The southern states of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, along with Andhra Pradesh, are anticipated to experience the most significant rainfall impact. The northeastern regions of India are similarly positioned to receive substantial precipitation during this period. Weather officials caution that some areas may face severe conditions, with heavy to very heavy rainfall posing potential challenges for residents and infrastructure.

In northern India, the National Capital Region including Delhi and surrounding areas, along with Punjab and Haryana, may experience rainfall on October 6-7. Hilly states across the Himalayan region are also on alert for precipitation during the forecast period. Beyond rainfall, the meteorological department warns of associated hazards including thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong gusty winds that could accompany the weather systems.
