India braces for widespread rain and thunderstorms through early September

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorm activity across India extending through September 1, with several states likely to experience particularly heavy downpours during the period.

Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and the northeastern states are among the regions where the IMD expects significant rainfall. The forecasts indicate conditions remain favorable for the continuation of the monsoon system across much of the country as it moves through the final days of August.

Thunderstorm activity is expected to accompany the rainfall in affected areas. Residents and authorities in vulnerable regions have been advised to remain prepared for potential flooding and waterlogging as precipitation intensifies.

The extended forecast reflects the typical weather patterns associated with the latter phase of the southwest monsoon season. The IMD continues to monitor atmospheric conditions and will update advisories as the weather systems evolve over the coming days.
