India captain Gill finds silver lining in Sri Lanka series despite drawn finale

India captain Shubman Gill attempted to strike an optimistic note following his team's departure from Sri Lanka, highlighting several positives from their test series despite the disappointment of a drawn final match.

The touring side wrapped up the two-test series with a 1-0 advantage after winning the first test convincingly. However, India's failure to capitalise on a strong position in Colombo left them falling short of a more commanding result.

"There were lots of positives to take from this series," Gill said, though his remarks came against a backdrop of evident frustration within the squad at squandering a golden opportunity to secure a whitewash victory over the hosts.

The drawn second test represented a significant missed chance for India to demonstrate their dominance comprehensively. Despite the series win, the team's inability to finish the job in the final match meant they returned home without the sense of complete triumph they had worked towards.
