The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday moved to clarify India's position regarding Iran's request for assistance in transporting medicines, dismissing suggestions that New Delhi had rebuffed the appeal.
"We remain in contact with our Iranian counterparts to facilitate the transport of life-saving medicines as a humanitarian gesture," said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, underlining India's commitment to supporting the initiative.
The clarification comes amid reports questioning India's willingness to assist Iran in moving pharmaceutical supplies. The statement signals that diplomatic channels between the two nations on this matter remain open and that discussions are ongoing to find practical solutions.
India has historically maintained engagement with Iran across multiple sectors despite international sanctions. The current exchange underscores New Delhi's approach of balancing its international obligations while addressing humanitarian concerns through dialogue with regional partners.
