India's cricket management has charted out a detailed workload management strategy for the multi-format tour of New Zealand, aimed at keeping pace bowlers fresh throughout the demanding itinerary.
The tour encompasses five T20 internationals, five one-day internationals and two Test matches, presenting a significant challenge in terms of player fatigue. To address this, the team's support staff, including bowling consultant Morne Morkel, has designed a rotation system that will see bowlers rested and rotated strategically across formats.
In the ODI segment, bowlers will be systematically rotated to manage their workload and prevent injury-related concerns. Additionally, a standby group has been identified specifically for the Test series, ensuring India has quality options available should any player require rest or sustain an injury.
Young fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is among the players under consideration for Test selection, signalling India's intent to blend experience with fresh talent. The rotation policy reflects Indian cricket's growing emphasis on player welfare and maintaining squad depth across all formats.
The strategy underscores the BCCI's commitment to balancing immediate performance requirements with the long-term fitness of its bowlers, particularly given the rigorous international calendar and the demands of multi-format cricket.
