India's ambassador has underscored the Netherlands' advantageous position to benefit from the India-EU free trade agreement negotiations, as economic engagement between New Delhi and Brussels continues to deepen.
The envoy noted that the proposed FTA would create expanded opportunities for Dutch businesses and investors seeking to strengthen their footprint in the Indian market. The trade accord is anticipated to facilitate greater flow of goods, services, and capital between India and the 27-nation EU bloc.
The Netherlands, as a major European trade and investment hub, stands to gain significantly from enhanced market access and reduced tariff barriers under the proposed agreement. The pact is expected to cover multiple sectors including services, intellectual property, and government procurement.
India and the EU have been engaged in formal FTA negotiations to modernize their trade relations and provide a framework for sustained economic cooperation. The agreement would be among the largest trade deals negotiated by New Delhi with a developed economic bloc.
Dutch firms have shown considerable interest in sectors including technology, renewable energy, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals—areas where India has demonstrated competitive strength and growth potential.
