India expands Pinaka rocket range to 300 km, enhancing strike capability
India's Pinaka guided rocket system is being developed to achieve an extended range of 300 kilometres, significantly expanding the military's deep-strike capabilities. The 370mm platform would enable strikes deep into Pakistan's territory from India's borders.

India is advancing development of its indigenously-designed Pinaka rocket system to extend its operational range to 300 kilometres, defence sources indicated. The enhanced range would represent a substantial upgrade from the system's current capabilities.
The 370mm guided rocket variant under development would enable Indian forces to strike targets across Pakistan's depth, substantially increasing the military's long-range strike potential from border positions. The extended-range capability aligns with India's broader strategy to strengthen its rapid-response offensive systems.
The Pinaka platform, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has been in service with the Indian Army for over a decade. Successive enhancements to the system have focused on improving accuracy, range, and operational flexibility.
The extended-range variant would complement India's existing arsenal of precision-guided weapons systems, offering commanders enhanced options for deep-strike missions. Defence analysts suggest the capability upgrade reflects India's focus on modernising its artillery and missile inventory to counter regional security challenges.
