India extends corporate filing deadlines to ease compliance burden

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs announced the extension on October 24 following representations from stakeholders who reported difficulties submitting filings through the MCA21 portal. Companies will be permitted to submit annual financial statements in e-forms AOC-4, AOC-4 (CFS), AOC-4 (XBRL), AOC-4 NBFC (Ind AS) and AOC-4 CFS NBFC (Ind AS) by the new deadline of December 31, 2026, without incurring additional penalties.

Annual returns in e-forms MGT-7 and MGT-7A for the fiscal year 2025-26 can be filed until January 31, 2027. The extension has been granted at no extra cost to ease the compliance burden on corporate entities facing technical and procedural challenges.

The move reflects the ministry's responsiveness to industry concerns regarding portal functionality and the need for adequate time to complete statutory filings. Companies are advised to utilize the extended period to ensure timely submission of required documents and avoid any potential regulatory complications.
