India Launches Affordable Local Toll Pass at Rs 1,500 Annually
A new local toll pass scheme will be introduced from November 1, offering annual access for Rs 1,500 to eligible users. The pass targets commuters living within a 20-kilometre radius of toll plazas, distinguishing it from existing FASTag annual pass options.

India's highways authority has unveiled a new local toll pass programme designed to ease commuting costs for residents in close proximity to toll collection points. Starting November 1, the Rs 1,500 annual pass will be available for booking, providing a more economical alternative for frequent users in designated zones.
Unlike the existing FASTag annual pass system, this new local toll pass has been specifically structured to benefit commuters residing within a 20-kilometre radius of toll plazas. The scheme recognises the repeated toll transactions incurred by residents who regularly pass through these collection points for daily commuting, work, or essential travel.
Not all road users are eligible for the new pass scheme. The programme is exclusively available to those whose residential address falls within the specified catchment area of a toll plaza. Eligible users can book the pass beginning November 1, with the annual fee of Rs 1,500 representing significant savings compared to individual toll transactions over a 12-month period.
The initiative is expected to streamline traffic flow at toll plazas while providing relief to the commuting population in surrounding areas. Detailed eligibility criteria and booking procedures are available through the National Highway Authority of India's official channels and FASTag provider networks.
