India launches new Vande Bharat Sleeper service between Bengaluru and Mumbai

India's newest Vande Bharat Sleeper Express commenced operations on the Bengaluru-Mumbai route on Tuesday, marking an expansion of the Indian Railways' premium overnight travel offerings. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the service, which adds capacity on one of the nation's most-traveled intercity corridors.

The train will service eight scheduled stops during its journey, connecting key destinations across the two states. Passengers will be able to board or alight at Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune, and Kalyan, in addition to the terminal stations.

The introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express reflects Indian Railways' strategy to modernize its long-distance network and enhance passenger comfort. The train features contemporary amenities and sleeping configurations designed for overnight travel, positioning it as a premium alternative to existing services on the route.

The service addresses growing demand for overnight connectivity between Bengaluru and Mumbai, two of South Asia's major business and technology hubs. By incorporating multiple intermediate stops, the train provides convenient access for travelers across Karnataka and Maharashtra.
