India maintains active dialogue with Ukraine, Russia to resolve conflict

India is maintaining active engagement with both Ukraine and Russia as part of efforts to help end the ongoing conflict, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Friday. Jaishankar made the statement in Warsaw after meeting with Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, following his discussions with senior Ukrainian officials in Kyiv the previous day.
The minister's remarks underscore India's diplomatic positioning on the Ukraine crisis, where New Delhi has sought to balance its relationships with both Moscow and Kyiv while advocating for dialogue and peaceful resolution. India has consistently called for negotiations and a ceasefire to end hostilities in the region.
During his Warsaw visit, Jaishankar engaged with Polish leadership on bilateral matters and the broader regional security situation. Poland, which shares a border with Ukraine and hosts millions of Ukrainian refugees, has been a key ally of Kyiv in its conflict with Russia.
The External Affairs Minister's multi-country visit reflects India's diplomatic efforts to remain engaged with key stakeholders in the Ukraine crisis while maintaining its policy of strategic autonomy. New Delhi has abstained from voting on multiple United Nations resolutions related to the conflict, positioning itself as a neutral party seeking a negotiated settlement.
