India Meteorological Department Issues Yellow Alert For Maharashtra Rains

The India Meteorological Department on Monday placed several districts across Maharashtra under yellow alert as monsoon systems continue to deliver significant rainfall across the state. The forecast indicates widespread rain and thunderstorm activity is likely to persist throughout the week, with isolated lightning strikes expected across affected areas.

Coastal Konkan is anticipated to experience the heaviest precipitation, alongside western Maharashtra and the Marathwada region. The yellow alert classification indicates that residents and administrative authorities should remain prepared for adverse weather conditions, though the situation does not currently warrant an orange or red alert.

The meteorological department advised residents in high-alert districts to exercise caution during outdoor activities and monitor official weather updates. School and civic authorities have been recommended to review contingency measures, particularly in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.

Monsoon conditions have already brought substantial rainfall to Maharashtra in recent weeks. The IMD's extended forecast suggests that weather patterns may gradually moderate by the latter part of the week, though isolated showers are expected to continue across inland regions.
