India must maintain peak military readiness against evolving threats: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday cautioned against emerging security challenges and stressed the need for India's armed forces to maintain the highest level of military readiness. Addressing personnel at a strategic airbase positioned near the India-China frontier, Singh highlighted the risk of adversaries attempting to capitalise on any vulnerabilities in the country's defence posture.

During the visit, Singh conducted a comprehensive review of the Army's infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), assessing operational preparedness and the deployment of resources across the sensitive border region. Officials accompanying the Defence Minister briefed him on recent modernisation efforts and tactical positioning in response to evolving regional dynamics.

Beyond military assessments, Singh also commended ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening community engagement and ties with local populations near the frontier. These efforts, officials noted, form an integral part of broader security architecture in border areas, combining military capability with civil-military coordination.

The visit underscores the government's continued focus on border security infrastructure and readiness, particularly as India navigates complex regional security challenges. Singh's remarks align with New Delhi's broader emphasis on maintaining strategic preparedness amid shifting geopolitical tensions in South Asia.
