The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) announced on Friday that applications are being sought from importers seeking tariff rate quotas (TRQ) under the India-United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) for the calendar year 2027. The application submission period runs from November 6 to November 21, 2026.
The TRQ allocations will enable eligible importers to access preferential duty rates on designated commodities as outlined in the bilateral trade pact. Passenger cars are among the key product categories for which quotas are available under the agreement framework.
The India-UK CETA came into force on July 15, 2026, establishing a preferential trade regime between the two nations. The agreement aims to facilitate increased bilateral commerce through tariff reductions and streamlined trade procedures on specified goods.
Importers seeking to benefit from the duty concessions under the 2027 quota allocation must submit their applications within the prescribed 16-day window. Detailed application procedures and eligible product lists have been made available through the DGFT's public notice.
