Opposition leaders under the INDIA Bloc umbrella will stage a "public impeachment" of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on October 30, seeking to deliver what they describe as a public verdict for his removal. The symbolic proceeding, styled as a mock Parliament, will be held at Hotel Ashok and will be attended by opposition MPs and senior bloc leadership.
The initiative comes as part of a broader opposition campaign against what they allege are irregularities in electoral processes. K C Venugopal, Congress general secretary for organisation, said the event is aimed at "saving the Constitution and defeating the Vote Chors," referring to alleged vote theft.
Following the impeachment proceeding, the INDIA Bloc plans to escalate its campaign with a mass rally dubbed "Dilli Chalo" on November 1, which opposition leaders have described as their largest demonstration against vote rigging. The march is expected to culminate at Ramlila Maidan and will aim to draw at least one million participants, according to bloc announcements.
The opposition's strategy reflects growing tensions over electoral conduct, with the bloc positioning itself as a defender of constitutional values and democratic integrity ahead of upcoming political confrontations.
