India orders 160 precision-guided anti-airfield weapons for air force
The Indian Defence Ministry has awarded an Rs 810.79 crore contract to Bharat Dynamics Limited for satellite-guided glide bombs aimed at enhancing the Indian Air Force's operational capabilities. The weapons system and associated equipment are expected to be delivered between 2027-28 and 2028-29.

The procurement order represents a significant modernisation effort for the Indian Air Force's arsenal of anti-airfield weapons. Bharat Dynamics Limited, a defence public sector undertaking, will be responsible for manufacturing and supplying 160 units of the precision-guided munitions along with associated equipment and infrastructure. The phased delivery schedule spanning two fiscal years beginning 2027-28 will allow for systematic integration and operational readiness.
The contract reflects India's broader strategy of indigenising advanced defence systems and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers. Investment in such precision-strike capabilities is viewed as critical for air force modernisation in an increasingly complex security environment.
