India plans seven bullet train corridors across major cities

India's railway ministry is advancing plans to introduce bullet train services across seven strategic corridors, marking a significant expansion of the country's high-speed rail ambitions. The proposed network will substantially reduce travel times between major metropolitan areas and business hubs across the country.

Among the priority routes identified are the Mumbai-Pune corridor and a Delhi-Varanasi link, both of which are expected to facilitate faster connectivity between economically significant regions. The Delhi-Varanasi route will connect the national capital with one of India's most important cultural and religious centers.

Beyond these flagship corridors, officials are developing plans to extend bullet train services to additional cities including Patna and Hyderabad, as well as other locations across Telangana and surrounding states. These comprehensive proposals reflect efforts to transform inter-city transportation and boost regional connectivity.

Once operational, the seven bullet train corridors are expected to significantly compress travel durations, with journeys that traditionally take several hours potentially reduced to a fraction of that time. The initiative forms part of India's broader infrastructure modernization agenda aimed at enhancing mobility and economic integration across the country.
