India pledges support for Ukraine, West Asia peace efforts: Modi

India will continue supporting every constructive effort to bring peace to Ukraine and West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Thursday following comprehensive discussions with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk. The Polish leader is on a three-day visit to New Delhi as international pressure mounts to end the Ukraine conflict.

Modi announced that the two nations have reached several agreements to strengthen their strategic partnership, with both sides committed to expanding overall engagement. "We have reached understanding to deepen relations in defence, space, and nuclear energy," Modi said in a media statement after the talks. The Prime Minister invited Polish companies to collaborate with Indian counterparts in co-development and co-production initiatives across these strategic sectors.

The talks underscored growing economic ties between the two nations. Modi highlighted how strengthened bilateral economic fundamentals have unlocked fresh opportunities for the India-Poland partnership. He noted that India's proposed free trade agreement with the European Union is expected to further reinforce economic cooperation between New Delhi and Warsaw.

The visit reflects Poland's efforts to engage major democracies on global peace initiatives while simultaneously deepening bilateral strategic partnerships in defence and emerging technologies.
