India Post's Department of Posts (DoP) has breached the ₹4,000-crore revenue threshold in two consecutive quarters for the first time in its history, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Thursday. The postal operator clocked ₹4,202 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, representing 25 per cent year-on-year growth from ₹3,355 crore in the same period last year.
Sequential growth remained strong, with the Q2 revenue marking a nearly 5 per cent increase from the previous quarter. The milestone underscores India Post's transformation as it diversifies revenue streams beyond traditional postal services. First-half revenues for the current fiscal year surged approximately 24 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year, according to the minister.
Parcel services emerged as the primary growth driver, surging 71 per cent year-on-year. Postal Life Insurance and Rural PLI products demonstrated robust expansion, growing 44 per cent in the quarter ended September 2025. The International Business vertical also contributed significantly, expanding 38 per cent during the period.
The sustained performance across multiple business verticals reflects the postal department's efforts to modernize operations and tap growing demand for logistics and financial services in India's expanding economy. The consecutive quarters exceeding the ₹4,000-crore benchmark position India Post as an increasingly significant revenue generator within the communications ministry.
