India pushes to finalize Chile trade deal by end of 2024
India's commerce ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to concluding comprehensive trade negotiations with Chile within the year. The push comes as New Delhi seeks to expand economic ties and create new opportunities for bilateral investment and cooperation.

India is accelerating efforts to complete negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with Chile, with officials targeting a conclusion by the end of 2024. Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal, who visited Santiago on August 26, held talks with Paula Estevez Weinstein, Chile's Vice-Minister of International Economic Relations, to advance the India-Chile CEPA negotiations.
The proposed agreement is expected to unlock fresh opportunities for trade and investment between the two nations while strengthening cooperation in critical areas including technology, talent mobility, and resilient supply chains. Officials believe the CEPA will provide Indian and Chilean businesses with commercially viable and equitable market access.
"India remains committed to concluding the CEPA negotiations within this year, with the aim of delivering a balanced and mutually beneficial framework that provides equitable and commercially meaningful outcomes for businesses on both sides," the commerce ministry said in a statement.
The partnership represents a significant step in deepening economic engagement between India and Chile, building on existing bilateral relations. Both countries view the trade pact as instrumental in fostering long-term economic cooperation in the region.
