India Rebukes Pakistan at UN for 'Lies' on Kashmir, Terror Links

India delivered a sharp rebuke to Pakistan during proceedings of the UN General Assembly's Fourth Committee, which addresses decolonization and special political issues. The response came after Pakistan made statements regarding the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during Friday's session.

India's Member of Parliament Mahima Kumari Mewar, delivering the country's formal Right of Reply, described Pakistan's conduct as "regrettable," stating that Islamabad "continues to abuse this august forum by peddling lies and falsehoods" about Kashmir. Mewar argued that such misrepresentations were inconsistent with the principles of respectful international dialogue.

Mewar further highlighted Pakistan's domestic governance challenges, pointing to its history of military dictatorships, disputed electoral processes, and the detention of elected political leaders. She also raised concerns about religious extremism and alleged state-sponsored terrorism emanating from Pakistani territory. Based on this record, Mewar suggested Pakistan should abstain from making moral pronouncements at international forums.
